What to Wear After Your Body Lift

What to wear after body liftWhat to Wear After Your Body Lift

One of the most rewarding outcomes of body lift is being able to show off your newly-enhanced figure. Like most patients, you will find that your wardrobe options have now expanded. Shopping for the new, slimmer you can be both exciting and overwhelming. If you don’t know where to start, Dr. Donald Hause of Sacramento Aesthetic Surgery would like to help. Here, he shares his best tips for dressing your body after body lift surgery.

During Your Recovery

It’s understandable to feel excited and even anxious to show off your post-body lift figure right after surgery. But the truth is, your body will be bruised and swollen for the first few days following surgery. Once your procedure is complete, Dr. Hause may place a compression garment over your treatment area to help with swelling post-surgery. You will need to wear the compression garment for about four to six weeks after surgery, depending on your healing process. As you recover, it is a good idea to wear soft, loose clothes that are easy to put on and take off.

Once You’re Fully Healed

Once you are fully recovered, there is nothing stopping you from flaunting your slimmer physique. Skinny jeans can accentuate your slimmer thighs and firmer buttocks while a form-fitting wrap dress can show off your overall trimmer figure. You may find that you are one or two pant sizes smaller following body lift, so you may have to shop for smaller sizes. If you’re not quite ready to get rid of your favorite articles of clothing, consider taking them to a tailor and having them altered to fit your slimmer body.

A common concern body lift patients have following surgery is whether their incision scars will be noticeable. Rest assured Dr. Hause is a highly skilled plastic surgeon who knows how to minimize and hide these scars. Scars on the abdomen, for instance, are placed low and can be concealed by most swimsuit bottoms. Additionally, with proper care, your scars will fade over time. Dr. Hause can provide you guidelines on how to properly take care of your scars following surgery.
