As the temperature and weather change, so do your skin care needs. Unbeknownst to some, certain summer skincare rules can actually have unintended effects during the fall. To help ensure your skin looks lovely and radiant all throughout the new season, Dr. Hause offers his best summer-to-fall skin care tips.
Light, oil-free moisturizers are great for the summer but they typically do not provide the sufficient nourishment your skin needs in the colder seasons. Heavy cream or oil-based formulas can help combat the cooler, drier weather by keeping your skin properly moisturized. Are you unsure of what moisturizer to use? Dr. Hause and his trusted skin care team offer a wide selection of high-quality skin care products. They would be happy to meet with you to discuss your skin care needs and recommend an appropriate moisturizer.
Don’t Put Away Your Sunscreen
Your skin is at risk of sun damage, even during the fall and winter seasons. It is estimated that about 80 percent of the sun’s harmful UV rays can penetrate through clouds and reach the skin. For this reason, you should always apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 whenever you are outdoors. Reapply sunscreen every two hours or so.
Go Easy On the Pumpkin Spice Lattes
Although delicious, your favorite fall caffeinated drink may be sabotaging your skin glow. Caffeine is notorious for drying the skin and causing unsightly blemishes. This fall, enjoy your lattes in moderation. Be sure to drink plenty of water in between your coffee and in general, to keep your skin looking healthy and beautiful.
